Tips to improve your taglines
- Keep it Short and Simple. Taglines should only be a few words long and use simple concrete language.
- Use Inviting Language. Make sure your tagline uses words that invite the consumer to be a part of your brand.
- Use an active verb. Many successful taglines use a verb ending in “-ing.”
- Make the Tagline about the Consumer.Your tagline should not just be about your brand. It should also talk about and be about your clients or consumers.
- Be Authentic. This goes with keeping it short and simple. Try not to make your tagline too clever or too cool. Make it authentic to your brand and your mission.
- Use a good adjective word. Try to use an adjective that provokes an image. Words that create an image in the consumer’s mind are more likely to be remembered later. Image words usually appeal to one of the five senses, such as the words dazzling, smooth, or buttery.
Why does my brand need a tagline?
Taglines are critical to making your brand memorable. They are often the first thing a consumer or client sees when researching and looking at your brand. People will use the tagline to create a first impression of your brand and to determine whether your product is something that they want to buy or use.
Taglines are really important to any brand because they help consumers remember your brand. It is like a slogan that gives insight into what the brand is all about and what it does. The tagline is also a very useful tool for marketing campaigns because it can be used in marketing materials, advertisements, and social media posts. A tagline gives a brand a unique identity and character which makes it stand out from competitors. If a brand comes up with a unique tagline people will remember them more.
Disney: The Happiest Place On Earth
Disneyland is famous for this tagline. When we go through Disneyland’s history we also might think of “I’m going to Disneyland” or “Where Dreams Come True.”
These were both slogans created for commercials or specific park initiatives. They have both changed and may one day be forgotten, but The Happiest Place on Earth will be remembered for generations.
Dollar Shave Club: Shave Time. Shave Money.
Dollar Shave Club has made a name for itself by sending quality razors right to people’s doorstep. No more having to overpay for razors at stores.
Over the years Dollar Shave Club has incorporated more products like shave cream, soaps, and other hygiene items.
However, their mission has stayed the same as represented by the tagline: no more spending time or money looking for good razors.
Airbnb: Belong Anywhere
When Airbnb first started in 2008 it was revolutionary. It gave people an opportunity to travel without staying in an expensive hotel.
It also allowed people to explore parts of cities frequented by locals by allowing them to stay with or near a local resident of the town they were visiting. Airbnb’s tagline exhibits its mission perfectly. When you travel using Airbnb, you can belong anywhere.
How exactly are taglines and slogans different?
Slogans often change with time and are not a permanent representation of a brand. They may represent one particular product or idea, not the brand as a whole. Slogans come to mind when people think about a company, but some companies have several slogans. Brands and companies usually only have one tagline though.
A slogan is a memorable motto or phrase used in a political, commercial, religious, and other context as a repetitive expression of an idea or purpose, with the goal of persuading members of the public or a more defined target group. Taglines on the other hand are usually shorter and deliver a concise message about what the company is trying to achieve.
